Scripture of the day:  "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus ... who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame ... consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
Hebrews 12:1-3

Thought of the day:  Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of testimonies of faith in chapter 11, let us run our race with endurance. Lay aside anything good or bad that weighs you down. Travel light. You are on a mission trip. Living a life of faith requires endurance ... eyes focused on Jesus ... and hope set on the joy before you. Jesus is your greatest example. "Consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Never give up.

Challenge of the day:  We spent one mission trip with more flies than people. There were many people ... but many more flies. Flies were in everything and on everything. We hung flypaper from the light in our bedroom. In less than 48 hours it was completely full. Each fly that landed on it was entrapped in its sticky glue. Sin is like that flypaper for believers. We get caught in its glue. It seems to cling to us ... entrapping us ... holding us down ... preventing us from flying. Set aside the sin in your life. Fly free and unencumbered. Don't run encumbered. Run with endurance.
