February 8

Scripture of the day:  "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Hebrews 4:14-16

Thought of the day:  Jesus died and was resurrected. He also ascended. He passed through the heavens ... and "sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high" Hebrews 1:3. Jesus is at the throne of God, Revelation 7:17. Therefore, hold fast to your faith. He was tempted here in all things as we are; yet He never sinned. Your high priest can sympathize with your weaknesses. Therefore, draw near to Him ... draw near to where He is ... draw near to the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace when you are in a time of need.

Challenge of the day:  The cross is central in the thinking of most Christians, as it should be. We drew near to the cross to be saved. However, after we are saved we must draw near to the throne of grace rather than to the cross. Don't keep going back to the cross. Jesus is not on the cross. He is at the throne. Therefore, go to the throne of grace to "receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
