Scripture of the day: "And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises." Hebrews 6:11-12
Thought of the day: Many believers haven't atrophied into immaturity. They are pressing on to the finish line. However, some have become "sluggish" in their walk with the Lord. Most new believers are enthusiastic and zealous ... but many older believers have become sluggish. It takes diligence to press on with zeal to the finish line. Going back to the basics is not the way to eliminate sluggishness. We must press on to the deeper things. Others have had great faith and patience. We should study them ... and imitate them.
Challenge of the day: Whom should you imitate? Paul wrote, "Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ." 1 Corinthians 11:1. That would be a good place to start ... imitate Paul. Or you could study the example that the author of Hebrews mentioned as he continued writing chapter 6 ... Abraham. Imitate him. Study the faithful men and women of the Bible. Learn from their examples. Do you know a truly godly man or woman? Spend some time with that person. Learn from that person. Follow his or her example. Are you a godly man or woman? Let your life say to others, "Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ."
