Scripture of the day: "By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's edict." Hebrews 11:23
Thought of the day: Two Hebrew slaves, Amram and Jochebed, are included in the all-star list of faith in Hebrews 11. The Pharaoh had ordered that all male Hebrew babies be thrown into the Nile, Exodus 1:22. However, Moses' parents disobeyed because they saw that their little baby boy was "beautiful" ... meaning much more than physical beauty. By faith they were not afraid to disobey. By faith they did not kill their child. Because of their faith, Moses' life was spared. Jochebed got him back for a short time with pay, Exodus 2:9. And Moses grew up to be the deliverer.
Challenge of the day: The world tries to conform us into its mold ... to think that it is acceptable to throw our babies into the river of abortion. It is not acceptable even if it is permitted or commanded by our governments. It is not about a woman's right to choose ... it is about God's right to choose. "Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward." Psalms 127:3. No one has the right to throw away a gift that God has chosen to give. The baby that Jochebed delivered became the deliverer. Should she have thrown him into the river to drown? No! Be faithful. Take a responsible stand against abortion ... personally and corporately. Follow the example of Amram and Jochebed.
