March 2
Scripture of the day: "One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, 'We have found the Messiah' (which translated means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas' (which is translated Peter)." John 1:40-42
Thought of the day: Andrew followed Jesus because of the words of John the Baptist. Andrew immediately went to his brother Simon ... and said, "We have found the Messiah". Andrew brought him to Jesus. Upon meeting Simon, Jesus renamed him as Peter ... the rock.
Challenge of the day: John told Andrew. Andrew told Simon. Simon came to Jesus. The good news went from John to Andrew to Simon. Is that multiplication happening in your life? To whom are you saying, "Look, the Lamb of God!"? To whom are you saying, "We have found the Savior"? There is a very significant word in these verses. It is the word "first". Andrew first found his brother. Having found Jesus, he first went to Simon to tell him the good news. Who should be first on your list to tell about Jesus? What if Andrew had not gone to Simon? What would it have been like without Peter? And one more thought ... if Jesus were to rename you, what name would He give you?
