March 8
Scripture of the day: "Jesus said to them, 'My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. Do you not say, "There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest"? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.'" John 4:34-36
Thought of the day: Our need for food is relentlessly demanding. We desire food ... think about it ... work for it ... plan it ... grow it ... harvest it ... shop for it ... cook it ... and eat it. Jesus said, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me". He also said, "Lift up your eyes ... the fields ... are white for harvest". And He spoke of the harvest joy shared by the sower and reaper.
Challenge of the day: Do you feel a burning hunger to do God's will? Do you expend your energies to accomplish His work? And do you really believe that the fields are white for spiritual harvest? Or is that only true in other times and other places? Can you say with Paul, "I am under obligation ... I am eager to preach the gospel ... I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes"? Romans 1:14-16. And when was the last time you shared in the joy of the harvest?
