Scripture of the day: "Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted."
Hebrews 2:17-18
Thought of the day: Jesus became a man. He lived as we live. He felt hunger and pain. He endured life's trials and temptations. Being man, He felt the full force of those trials and temptations. Being God, He stood immovable before them. He was holy and sinless. Being man, He could suffer in our place on the cross. Being God, He did not have to suffer for Himself. He was the perfect high priest ... and the perfect sacrifice. He solved our sin problem. And He can come to our aid when we are tempted.
Challenge of the day: Jesus has solved your sin problem. Your sins were forgiven when you believed in Jesus. He was able to save you from the eternal consequences of your sins. Don't you think that He is also able to help you to resist temptation? Is there some temptation that you just don't seem to be able to resist? Do you try and try ... but almost always fail? Maybe the problem is that you are trying alone. Turn to Jesus. Ask Him to help you. He has been tempted. He knows what it is like for you. He will come to your aid. Go to Jesus. He is your merciful and faithful high priest.
