Scripture of the day: "By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise; for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God." Hebrews 11:8-10
Thought of the day: God communicated to Abraham in a clear way. He made His will known. Abraham had faith. Therefore, he obeyed God. He trusted God as he traveled "not knowing where he was going". Abraham didn't know where he was going ... but he knew the One who told him to go. And then he had the faith to live "as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents".
Challenge of the day: Sometimes God asks us to move. It may be to go to a new school ... to the university ... to marriage ... to new employment ... to a new home ... or to a mission field. When God tells you to move on, it is time to obey. Move on when He tells you to go. And keep focused on the fact that your next earthly destination is not the end of the journey. Your final destination is "the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God." Press on to the New Jerusalem.
