Scripture of the day: "Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, 'I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,' so that we confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?'" Hebrews 13:5-6
Thought of the day: The word translated in these verses as "the love of money" means covetousness ... the craving of wealth and possessions. It is the opposite of contentedness. True faith means being content with God's provision. If you have faith, you will trust God. He has said that He will never desert you nor forsake you. Covetousness comes from lack of faith ... from not believing God.
Challenge of the day: Being content is not the same as being lazy, slothful, or indolent. And being content does not negate being hardworking or successful. The Bible has much to say about working diligently and doing our best in our employment. Whatever the results may be, be content ... not complacent. Paul wrote, "I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:11-13. Have you learned the secret of being content? The secret is all-star faith! When it comes to money and possessions, is your faith in you? Or is it in God?
